All three races I've had some sort of issue and/or learning experience on the bike that ruined my "race for a Kona slot" but helped me learn a lot about myself and what it takes to be successful at the Iron distance.

Yes, yes it has been quite a long time since I have posted. I haven't gone anywhere, I am still as dedicated and consistent with my training. After being given a few slaps on the wrist, the courts eventually ordered me to go to a boys group home/ranch in Oregon City for a 12-18month treatment program.They also put me on 2 years probation. I was reminded of this when I did 14miles of my 18mile long run today with Jake Barakat. More than 21,000 people registered to participate in the 15k, 8k, 5k and kids run (about as many people who run the Boston Marathon!! GO PORTLAND!). I ranked 54th in my age group nationwide. I think the top 99 guys in my age group got All-American status. The walk in Kyle's memory was originally Kyle's Mom's (Debbie) idea to hold an annual walk. When Debbie met Mamie (the Portland marathon Charity contact and Medical director), we were set with an event day and a great organization (the Portland Marathon) to support our cause.

What a great race today! I ran a 1:16:22 half marathon, which is a new PR (1:17:06 previous, and 1:18:48 last year on this course). And I finished 3rd overall in a deep field, packed with guys that I have been chasing and idolizing since I ran my first road race back in March of 2005. These guys are fast, and is a very humbling experience for me. Getting lapped by someone doing backstroke while you are doing race pace efforts can really put things into perspective. I have no doubt that the coaches and swimmers will help make me faster for the upcoming season.
